The Bulgari Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Wrist Watch Is the world’s thinnest watch, measuring 3.95 mm thick. This watch is known for its sleek yet intricate design. It is released quite recently and it is already pretty popular!
The 42mm-wide, 7.4mm-thick sandblasted titanium case is water-resistant to 30M and is pure Octo Finissimo, with its architectural design and angles. If you look on the side of the case you’ll notice two pushers. The gripped pusher at 2 o’clock activates, stops, and resets the chronograph, while the smooth 4 o’clock pusher serves the novel purpose of switching the crown’s functionality between hand-winding and time setting.
This watch has a caliber, BVL 388, that is an ultra-thin skeletonized automatic movement that forgoes the traditional micro-rotor for a peripheral rotor. It features a horizontal clutch and column wheel, which take some creative steps to assure a slim profile. The clutch lever by the column wheel is actually incorporated around the tourbillon, rather than the mechanism being built above it. This would naturally add thickness.
.
While the case back view of the movement is an absolute stunner, the dial is where the skeletonized part of the watch comes into play. The dial arrangement plays with symmetry with the running seconds and chronograph subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock, the tourbillon at 6 o’clock, and a view of the mainspring barrel at 12 o’clock. Everything plays into the matte-gray monochromatic color scheme. Other than a small bit right under the running seconds subdial, there is no real estate that could afford to be seen through completely.
