FAQS

What are Rotate Watch Kits?

Rotate® offers all-in-one kits to build your own mechanical watch! Each kit includes all the parts, tools, and guidance that you’ll need.

Should I get a watch kit or a movement kit?

If you’re more interested in the intricate inner workings of the watch, we recommend a movement kit. If you’d like the bigger picture and to have a completed watch in the end, we recommend a watch kit. The two kit types show two separate processes and ultimately, getting both types will give the full experience. Use code KITBUNDLE for $50 off multiple kits!

Can I disassemble the movement in the watch kits?

To get the full movement kit and access to the movement guide, you’ll need to purchase a movement kit. Though it may seem redundant to have two movements, we highly recommend it since the highest performing watch uses the unopened movement. Use code KITBUNDLE for $50 off both types of kits.

What wrist sizes to the kits fit?

Our leather straps fit a wrist of approx 17-22 cm (6.7-8.6 in), and our metal straps can be adjusted to any length under 22cm (8.6 in). All fit most wrist sizes, including women’s.

Which products are compatible with each other?

We have two different lines that have varying compatibility with the items in our shop. For the Edison/Wright/Galileo line, view all compatible items here. For the Newton/Eiffel line, view compatible items here.

Where are the kits shipped from?

All orders are assembled in our Los Angeles office and shipped from our US warehouses.

How long does it take to build a watch?

Our Eiffel/Newton kits are medium difficulty and have an assembly time of approximately 2 hours. Our Edison/Galileo/Wright kits have a high difficulty and an assembly time of approximately 3 hours. Assembly time also depends on the person and what particular obstacles come up. Some may find enjoyment working bits at a time for a few days!

Do the movements come assembled?

Movements come assembled in our watch kits to ensure accuracy and functionality in the final watch. Our movement kits highlight the disassembly/assembly of the movement. To get the full experience with both types of kits, use code KITBUNDLE for $50 off!

How hard is it?

Our customers have found the kit to be a nice challenge – not too easy and also not overly difficult. If you’re looking for a greater challenge, we recommend the Edison/Wright/Galileo line. For a medium difficulty level, we recommend the Eiffel/Newton line. Completion time is around 2-3 hours, and it depends on the person and which kit is being assembled.

How much is shipping?

For a limited time, Domestic shipping is FREE for Priority 1-3 day shipping, and International shipping is Priority 1-5 day (shipping amount varies on the country and cart total).

If you choose to wait, our delivery carrier will reach out prior to delivery if there are necessary fees.

What's included with the warranty?

Every watch kit comes with a lifetime limited warranty! The warranty will replace all damaged parts and tools entirely, excluding only certain pieces on the movement, such as the setting lever part. Proof of damage must be received – please send photos/videos to hello@rotatewatches.com with the part/tool name and color (if applicable). For the excluded movement pieces, we can offer a free exchange or factory price for a replacement movement within the US. Please email us photos/videos of the damage to hello@rotatewatches.com. We’ll attempt to help repair the damage with you, but if unsuccessful, we can supply a discount code for the factory price.
